What do their policies cover?

Staysure’s basic and comprehensive travel insurance covers a range of pre-existing medical conditions as standard. There’s no upper age limit and all policies cover over 80 activities and sports. Single trip and annual holiday insurance can be tailored to your needs or upgraded with a range of optional extras.

Here’s how each option works:

Single trip insurance

Staysure single trip insurance covers one trip of up to 104 days to multiple destinations. Their basic and comprehensive travel insurance includes the following services as standard:

  • Winter sports – covers medical expenses or loss or damage to equipment (21 days cover included as standard in comprehensive policies)

Annual travel insurance

Staysure’s annual insurance has the same cover levels as their single trip insurance. The big difference is with annual insurance, you’re covered for multiple trips over a whole year. Each single trip is limited to 50 days for under 70 year olds and 35 days for those over 70.

Depending on your travel plans, with Staysure’s annual holiday insurance you can choose to cover trips to the following regions:

  • UK & Europe – excluding Cyprus, Egypt, Greece, Malta, Morocco, Spain, Tunisia and Turkey
  • All of Europe
  • Worldwide – excluding Bermuda, Canada, the Caribbean, China, Hong Kong, Mexico, Thailand and the USA
  • Worldwide – All countries

Do they offer coronavirus travel insurance cover for over 50s?

Staysure include covid-19 travel insurance in all single trip and annual policies. Coronavirus insurance includes cancellation cover if you’re diagnosed with Covid-19 within 14 days of travel. Plus up to unlimited emergency medical expenses and repatriation fees if you contract the illness whilst on holiday.

You will not be covered for trips to countries listed as places to avoid by the FCO and you must mention any pre-existing conditions when you apply, as failure to do so could invalidate your policy.

How much does Staysure travel insurance cost?

The cost of Staysure holiday insurance depends on where you are traveling to, your age, health and whether you prefer basic or comprehensive cover. For example, single trip insurance for a 60 year old traveling to Spain currently costs £9.98 for basic cover, or £12.99 for comprehensive.

If you prefer annual cover, you should expect to pay £29.99 for basic or £39.99 for comprehensive. The excess is £65 for basic policies or £100 for comprehensive, no plans include cruise cover but Staysure’s annual comprehensive policy includes winter sports.

You will then pay more if you choose to enhance your policy with one of the optional extras. For example, on an annual policy, single item cover is available from £9.11, whilst connecting flight insurance will cost you an additional £29.95.

What is their claims process?

Staysure claims can be made over the phone to their emergency or general claims line or via their online claims process. You’ll need your validation certificate and any documents that support your claim. If your claim is connected to Covid-19, Staysure will also require a copy of your test results.
